A funeral home typically isn’t a place you want to visit, but what I saw at Legacy Funeral Chapel on Green Bay’s west side made me feel welcomed and comfortable.
Changes are afoot at the funeral home, with its new look, new name and a broader scope of services. The funeral home has provided funeral services to the Asian community since 2007 and now provides personalized funeral services to people of all faiths and of any heritage.
Funeral director James Beaton purchased the funeral home in October 2016 and has spruced it up to make it more appealing and welcoming. By modernizing the layout, James made the building more convenient for visitors and families who have lost a loved one. In addition, the funeral home now has first-floor restrooms. That may not seem like a big deal, but the handicapped accessible bathrooms and no-stairs entryway make Legacy Funeral Chapel convenient to grandma and grandpa and anyone else with mobility issues.
As an added bonus, there’s a commercial kitchen and 100-seat dining room which offers the opportunity for a tailor-made remembrance and farewell experience all under one roof. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Every person is unique, and James believes every person’s funeral service should be as unique as their personality. The staff of Legacy Funeral Chapels helps families create a tailor-made send-off for each individual.
James and his staff also run a Legacy Funeral Chapel in Gillett, Wisconsin, formerly named Kuehl Funeral Home. James said it was bittersweet to rename the funeral home which is one of the city’s oldest businesses. Three generations of the Kuehl family managed the funeral home, ending in 1997 when Armin Kuehl sold the business. Various funeral directors have managed the funeral home since, with James coming on board in January 2016.
