Armin F. Kuehl

Armin F. Kuehl, age 87, of Green Bay and formerly of Gillett, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

Armin was born in Gillett on September 9, 1930, a son of the late Frank and Norma (Larsen) Kuehl.  He attended local schools and was a graduate of Gillett High School.  Armin attended the University of Wisconsin at Ripon prior to joining the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  During his service, he along with the 95th Bombardment Group flew a combat tour as a B-26 gunner out of Pusan, Korea.  Armin was married to Jerry (Sparks) and together they made their home in Gillett and welcomed two children.

Armin worked for many years in his family’s business, Kuehl’s Furniture and Funeral Home focusing in later years on the funeral home.  Armin was a dedicated funeral director and served countless Gillett area families over a career that spanned four decades.  He was community minded and served in various capacities on numerous boards including the Gillett Lions of which he was a charter member, The Gillett American Legion, The Gillett VFW, the Gillett non-profit housing authority and the Gillett Industrial Development Corporation.  Armin was also a past member of the Gillett Masonic Lodge No. 344 F. & A.M.

Prior to retiring to Green Bay, Armin and Jerry were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Armin was an accomplished and enthusiastic golfer.  He was a founding member of River Island Country Club of which he was past club champion, past member of Golden Sands Country Club and Green Bay Country Club.  He achieved multiple holes in one and along with his son, Jeff, won the Father-Son State Championship in 1980.  He would go on to win the Cherryland Open in Door County  as well as the Senior Championship at Green Bay Country Club.  Armin’s passion for golf was shared by the family and was a favorite pastime.

Armin and Jerry were fortunate to winter in Clearwater Beach, Florida for many years and also had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, San Diego, Mexico and Las Vegas with friends.  In later years, the family enjoyed time together in their Green Bay home.
